Design Process

In the pursuit of crafting impactful and user-centric experiences, my design philosophy is deeply rooted in a diverse professional journey that spans various roles and industries. As a Quality Assurance Technician at Stryker, I engage in cross-disciplinary resource sharing as a SIX (Social Innovation Exchange) member, with a specific focus on integrating educational initiatives into Research and Development projects. Previously, as a Senior Playtest Coordinator at 343 Industries, I played a pivotal role in the launch of significant campaigns, including the Halo Infinite Xbox and Steam Store Pages, showcasing my ability to contribute to large-scale projects within the gaming industry.

My journey began as an Xbox Game Store Certification Tester, honing my attention to detail and commitment to quality while working for BrickRed Systems at HCL Laboratories for Microsoft Corporation. Prior to that, my experience as a Marketing Technology Intern at Activision Blizzard and a Gameplay Developer at VALA Eastside Gallery allowed me to delve into diverse aspects of the gaming landscape, developing a versatile skill set.

Education-wise, I hold a B.A. in Game Design from DigiPen Institute of Technology, where my academic projects, such as The Cannonade - Recoil Riot, reflect my proficiency in UI development and data-driven design. This multifaceted background, coupled with a robust skill set spanning typography, wireframing, rapid prototyping, and front-end development, empowers me to approach design challenges with adaptability, self-efficacy, and a keen understanding of human-centered principles. My proficiency in a range of software and coding languages, from Unity and Unreal Engine to Adobe Creative Suite and Autodesk Maya, further underscores my commitment to staying at the forefront of design innovation. Through this rich tapestry of experiences, I embody a commitment to human-centered design principles and a relentless pursuit of excellence in every facet of the user experience.

Drawing from my varied experiences, my design approach blends seamlessly with principles inspired by influential design philosophy. Throughout my career, I've consistently applied a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of user-centered design. Now, let's dive into a detailed breakdown of my UX design process, influenced by the wisdom of design experts, and marked by a commitment to crafting both functional and empathetic user experiences. Explore the steps guiding my design journey below:

  1. User-Centric Research: Begin by conducting comprehensive user research to understand the needs, preferences, and pain points of your target audience. Dive deep into their daily routines, habits, and challenges to gain valuable insights that will inform your design decisions.

  2. Empathetic Persona Creation: Develop user personas that embody the diverse characteristics and behaviors identified during the research phase. These personas will serve as archetypes to guide your design process, ensuring a human-centered approach throughout.

  3. Intuitive Information Architecture: Craft a well-organized and intuitive information architecture that mirrors users' mental models. This involves structuring content and interactions in a way that aligns with users' expectations, making it easy for them to navigate and find what they need effortlessly.

  4. Sketching and Ideation: Utilize low-fidelity sketches to ideate and explore various design possibilities. This stage encourages a free-flow of creative ideas, allowing you to experiment with different concepts and iterate rapidly before committing to high-fidelity prototypes.

  5. Rapid Prototyping: Translate your sketched concepts into interactive prototypes that can be tested with real users. Use prototyping tools to simulate the user experience, gathering feedback early in the design process to identify potential issues and refine your solutions.

  6. Usability Testing: Conduct rigorous usability testing sessions with real users to evaluate the effectiveness of your design. Observe how users interact with your prototype, identify pain points, and gather feedback to refine and optimize the user experience further.

  7. Iterative Design: Embrace an iterative design process based on the insights gained from usability testing. Continuously refine your design based on user feedback, making incremental improvements to enhance usability, accessibility, and overall satisfaction.

  8. Visual Design Enhancement: Elevate your design by incorporating a visually appealing and cohesive aesthetic. Ensure that visual elements align with your users' expectations and preferences, creating a seamless and engaging visual experience that complements the functional aspects of your design.

  9. Accessibility Considerations: Prioritize accessibility by incorporating design elements that cater to users with diverse abilities. Ensure that your design is inclusive and adheres to accessibility standards, guaranteeing a positive experience for all users.

  10. User Feedback Integration: Actively seek and integrate user feedback throughout the entire design process. Maintain an open channel for communication with users, stakeholders, and team members, fostering a collaborative environment that values continuous improvement.

By following this user-centered and iterative UX design process, I aim to create seamless and intuitive experiences that align with users' needs, echoing the principles of user-centered design advocated by influential figures in the field of design.
